She suffered a season-ending knee injury injury in March, and started her rehabilitation elsewhere. Her recovery was very slow, and eventually came to a halt. She graduated, started her career, and came to us to attempt to complete her recovery.
History
Her numerous previous visits to therapy had left her improved, but she arrived in our office with significant hip girdle weakness, loss of knee motion and a very painful area along the medial knee called a Pes Anserine Bursitis. Her ligament injury had healed, and she had no evidence of a meniscal injury.
Treatment
I stripped her therapy program back to basics – hip strength training, and body weight resistance training emphasizing correct form – and provided targeted pain and inflammation relief to the pes anserine bursa.
Outcome
6 visits later, and she was able to return to play. Her other knee has bothered her for a few years, and after her wedding, she’s coming back to finally have (what was) the “bad” knee addressed.
